FAQ

  • A professional organizer is a specialist who helps individuals and businesses declutter, organize, and streamline their spaces for efficiency, functionality, and aesthetics.

  • Professional organizers can assist with a wide range of tasks, such as:

    • Decluttering and purging/donating unwanted items

    • Organizing spaces like kitchens, offices, or garages

    • Developing efficient storage systems

    • Devising custom solutions for the way you live in a space

    • Providing guidance on productivity and efficiency

  • The process usually involves:

    1. Initial consultation:
      We discuss your goals, challenges, and expectations.

    2. Assessment: Evaluating your space and identifying areas for improvement. This can be on site before starting the process or with photos/videos.

    3. Organization plan:
      We agree on a customized plan for how to improve your space.

    4. Implementation:
      Execute the plan. This includes decluttering, purchasing new bins (if desired), organizing, and setting up systems.

    5. Follow-up: I check in with you to see how your new systems and restored space is fitting your needs.

  • This depends on several factors, including the size and complexity of space.

    Some smaller spaces can be completed in a 3 hour session, while larger spaces with more items and storage areas will take longer.

  • Home organizing is hands-on and requires access to the space, as well as your time, energy and enthusiasm to make decisions that will help you achieve your goals. To prepare for your first session, here are a few things I recommend:

    • Get a good night of sleep.

    • Drink water and eat a balanced meal to give you energy beforehand.

    • Wear comfortable shoes

    • Think through your daily routine of how you use your space and identify the problem areas so we can improve those first.

    • Gather some basic supplies including trash bags and any pre-owned storage bins that you want to use. I also offer personal shopping if you want to purchase new bins/storage solutions to cohesively fit your space and aesthetic.

    • Bring an open mind. During your organizing sessions, you will have the opportunity to let go of items that don't serve you any longer and create a new, more intentional relationship with your space.

    • Plan for how you will handle potential interruptions that can impact our hands on organizing time (kids, pets, etc)

Payment policy

Payment for a package is due prior to the first session. If no package is purchased, hourly rates will apply and payment is due at the end of the first session. Organizing products are optional and are billed separately. Personal shopping for products is billed at the hourly rate. A portion of package hours can be used for personal shopping.

Projects that go beyond the purchased package are charged at the designated hourly rate, unless another package is purchased.

  • Hourly rate appointments are billed in 15 minute increments.

  • A travel fee may apply for projects located more than 30 miles outside of Portland.

Cancellation policy

Appointments canceled within 24 hours will be charged a $50 cancellation fee (or deducted one hour from the purchased package). The fee will be waived if the appointment is immediately rescheduled.
